Your Challenge!

Father Dehon's Prayer for Discernment

"Behold, I Come to do your will, O God."

"Behold the handmade of the Lord, let it
be done to me according to your word."

These words sum up our entire vocation,
our purpose, our duties and our promises.

In all circumstances, in all events for the
future and for the present, this prayer
suffices, as long as it is in our mind and
heart as well as on our lips.

"Behold, I come to do your will, O God."

Behold, I am ready to act, to undertake, to
suffer whatever you wish, to sacrifice
whatever you ask of me.  We can live
without anxiety, for the will of God makes
itself known at every moment.  But if
darkness and uncertainty should fill our
mind and heart, let us persevere with
patience and love in this condition until the
wisdom and goodness of God enlightens us
once again.

If we give ourselves to our Lord in this way,
He will give Himself in return, and nothing
will be lacking to us.  As He said to His
disciples, "Are not two sparrows sold for a
small coin?  Yet not one of them falls to the
ground without your Father's knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
So do not be afraid, you are worth more
than many sparrows."  Our Lord will look
after all our needs in due time, if we give
ourselves to Him.

Amen.
