*** Ask & Receive***

I n our daily life and also in the spiritual life, it is important to know when to "zig" and when to "zag."  We need balance in our lives to best discern the path upon which God is leading us.  Scripture calls us to ask and to seek direction from God.  Perseverance in prayer is vital - keep knocking until the door is opened.  Jesus tells us not to rattle on like the pagans.  But, prayer is important - it is communication between God and ourselves; it is vital to our intimate relationship with Jesus, with God.

"Ask and you will receive,"

shouldn't encourage us to simply talk to God when we want something.  Instead, it is an invitation to dialogue with our Lord, a dialogue that should be balanced not only with desires, but with thanksgiving, praise, and reparation for our shortcomings.

"Ask and you will receive."

You will always receive something through prayer, but it is up to you to discern what it is that you are receiving.  Could it be a call from God, a direction for your life? Listen, and hear the gift that God has for you.
